I was disappointed with this book. It is a very modern translation of the Gospel of Matthew which I knew but I expected more commentary from Lauren Winner. I have read several of her other books and I was hoping for a strong Jewish perspective on the book of Matthew especially since this was the Gospel written in Aramaic, the common Jewish language spoken by Jesus. Lauren Winner's comments, found in the square boxes are good I just expected more and in more detail. With her name as author, she should have written more than a few pages worth of notes. This is more Milk than Meat.
