I like many of Fred Saberhagen's Dracula series, but it seems as he goes farther along he loses some of his style and introduces more and weirder violence as a substitute. I read the first book in this book (it has two books in it: Old Friend of the Family & Thorn) and was not impressed; I started the second and just couldn't keep going. I think I'm more in the mood for G.K.Chesterton, anyway.
