It's not that this book is bad; I really enjoy the characters and the plot is interesting (as is Abby's gift) but after reading the first two books in the series and really liking them, I felt that there was a lot of repetition in this book - things happened to Abby that happened in other books, and I just kind of wished for a little more variety (though the story line/plot IS unique; it's just some of the details of the action that repeats). Worth a read once.

Excellent series. Abby is a little annoying sometimes when she insists on putting herself at risk like the girl in a B movie who learns there's a monster in the basement and rushes down to check it out, but the author's "voice" is very readable and the plot is good.

Another great mystery from Victoria Laurie. The characters just keep getting richer, funnier and in some cases more outrageous. This time Abby, her sister Cat and handyman Dave buy a house to remodel and sell. But Abby has to get the ghosts out first.

I have to agree with another reviewer and fellow club member that Abby's stubbornness really got old and I find it hard that someone with her psychic intuition would take so many unnecessary chances to put herself in danger. Then, on top of that, she stomps her foot like a 5 year old when called on the carpet by her boyfriend, Dutch, who apparently has the patience of Job but still gets frightened and angry at the dangers she gets herself into. Also, Abby's sister, Cat, is a bit over the top as far as being a believable character. It is obvious that both women were raised in a seriously dysfunctional home! The story and plot were great - I did figure out that James was actually his brother but all the history in the family was very interesting. I also give it a 4 out of 5. :)

3rd in series, Abby has taken the month off for a little R&R. Unfortuneately Dutch gets shot in the butt, so she becomes his nurse-aide. Then all of a sudden Dave her handy man conns her into buying an old house to flip. Little did they know they would find a half-dead ghost, a treasure box, and a serious mad-man after the contents within. Abby, Dutch and Milo work to figure out the puzzle, and Abby finds herself constantly in a heap of trouble. tension mounds up and tempers fly high in this one!
This is a fun series, and Im looking forward to reading more.
I read Mrs Lauries' Ghost Duster series first, and I was happy to see how MJ Holliday was introduced into this series. What fun it is reading my 2 favories characters interacting together in the same book!

Abby gets involved in renovating a "haunted" house and it sends her intuition into overdrive. She must solve the mystery of the murdered ghost in order to rid the house of the spirits that won't move on to "the other side". Her relationship with Dutch also takes some interesting turns as they try to work together. I enjoyed this book and thought it was the best in the series thus far. I'm anxious for the next book to come out!

I really like these mysteries. Abby's love sounds like a hunk. I finished this one in a few hours.
Really nice story lines. Sometimes you want to shake Abby when she runs to check something out and then finds more than she bargains for but at times her non-psychic friends don't believe her or see the same things
For the second time I've decided not to go further with this series. It's been more than a few years, and I remembered not liking it after the third...but I did keep them on my bookshelves and I thought why not give it another try? Sometimes my mood changes. But no. I liked the mystery in this one, with the haunted house that holds a secret other than the murder, and I liked how Abby and Dutch tracked it down. But those two are not likable people. Every other day they're yelling at each other and Abby in particular acts like a 5 year old. Laurie makes a valiant effort to write the character but I can't suspend disbelief that Abby, whose spirit guides tell her everything about her clients and always let her know if someone is lying, can continually get in life-threatening danger. The spirits tell her when her boyfriend has an important voicemail, but don't mention the bad guy lying in wait? Oh well. I'll pass the books on to someone who will enjoy them.

This book is the third in the psychic eye mystery series. The copyright is 2005, so I am hoping that there are more coming. Another fascinating book about Abby who is a psychic and helps out the police...although she is more likely to go out on her own! In this book she and her rich sister have bought a house that -- wouldn't you know it -- is haunted, and a murder happened in it. Abby is not the kind of psychic that talks to ghosts, in fact she is scared to death of them! Fascinating book.
The third installment of Abby Cooper and the Psychic Eye Mysteries is just as great as I'd expect after reading the first two in the series. I loved this book, though admittedly I was a little confused at the end. My favorite in the series has been the second one, but they are all great. Psychic Abby Cooper solves murders, in this case she solves the murder of a woman who died years earlier. Blending the past and the present gets a little confusing, but it is possible that is because I was really tired when I finished the book...it was hard to put down!

If Victoria Laurie could just calm down Abby on her independence a little. Ya, we understand we are women hear me roar. If you can put up with that you are good to go with the series.

The storyline in this third book did not disappoint! I woke up at 3:30 this morning to finish reading it, and it was worth it. One small complaint, though, which is what kept this from being rated 5 stars. Like Abby's "I'm seeing/sensing/feeling" catchphrase in the first book or two, Dutch has his own signature saying in this book- "Sweethot", which I don't know if it's supposed to be an obnoxiously pronounced "sweetheart" or what, but it's annoying after the second time (of many.)

That's it. This is the last Abby Cooper book I will live. I don't understand why Laurie chooses to make her heroine TSTL (too stupid to live). She has Abby constantly complaining that her FBI boyfriend treats her like a three year old. I found myself yelling at the book "that's because you act like a three year old".
As a psychic you would think that Abbey would be able to avoid getting herself into these sticky situations but its still fun to read about it!

I am loving all of the Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye books. She is such a funny character, and I am loving all the scrapes that she manages to get herself into. Also, you can't beat a hunk like Dutch! He's a peach!
It was pretty creepy which made for a very cozy read late one rainy night. One of my favorites in the series.
Very well written. Kept me guessing until the end. I will look for more books by this author.

While I really liked the first book in this series, I felt the second wasn't as good and this one was, well, eh. The immature relationship between Abby and Dutch is irritating and at times seems forced. Plus Abby does all these really stupid things with potentially deadly consequences for no real reason that I could see. A lot of the things she ran off to do, could have waited until someone was available to go with her. But maybe that doesn't make for an exciting story. Beats me. All I do know is that if the next book continues on this downward spiral, then I'm done!
What a great series! This one is more of a ghost story than a psychic storyline..but both are interwoven and it works well. Highly recommended!

Third in the series of Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye stories. It is an easy-to-read cozy, just perfect for the lazy days of summer.

Great series, great book!
When Abby closes the deal on a fixer-upper, phantom inhabitants replay a violent night from long ago that ended in the murder of a beautiful blonde. To evict the house's ghosts Abby must uncover the dead woman's identity and solve her murder.
Each book is better than the last one.I cannot put these books down.I will buy the next book as soon as it comes out.

Victoria Laurie has become another favorite on my author's list. This was my third book of hers that I have read and eagerly look forward to more. Once I get started in one of her books, I cannot take my nose out until I finish. Victoria always provides a good read.

Third in a series about Abby, the Psychic Eye. Story line dragged in parts with to many details and lost my interest when it got a little to complicated. Abby has lost her spunk and more than her usual whiny self.
Another very good book by Victoria Laurie. She seems to always come up with wonderful ideas in her books. Enjoyed it very much and the plot was very unique.
A fitting beginning for Dutch. Dutch is doing a marginally better job at respecting what Abby does. I still really dislike him as the male lead. Abby continues to be stupid. House is broken into and you go in? Really?! And she doesn't learn, because she does yet another stupid thing towards the end of the book. Then, there's her sister Cat (and add in mother Claire too). Seriously? Really? Psych meds needed stat! What kind of endearment is sweethot?
