This was the next to last book from Jo Beverley, who passed in 2018 after a long career writing intricate medievals and regencies, most of which I've read. Beverley's stories are full of texture and period feeling, alpha heroes and strong women, but (for me) often quite complex and a bit hard to follow sometimes. But I like authors who don't write down, but expect me to come up to meet them, and I miss her.

If you like UK peerage, etc., interesting. She has to put sex in her books I think.
