This was a good read. There were some things I really liked about it and some I didn't. The story is set around an abusive marriage where Chelsea and her daughters live in constant fear of their cruel husband/father. Not long after the Covid pandemic, everyone is now exposed to the new virus, The Violence. In this one, people will just change unknowingly and beat whoever is near them to death and "awaken" not knowing what they did. This turns of events actually helps Chelsea concoct a plan to get rid of her husband. Unfortunately, it is not a concrete plan and it leaves her to come up with something else. This sends everyone in their own crazy directions.
The things I liked best about this story was the development process of mothers and daughters. The progression you see with Patricia, Chelsea and Ella make it worth the read. I also enjoyed the idea of the story. Going onto what I didn't like was some of the ideas in the book were far-fetched and not at times believable. There were a few eye rolls from me throughout the book but it was still tolerable. It also stretched out at some points and felt like the book could have been a bit more condensed. Altogether, a good read though.
