"A Vintage Murder" is another great addition to Michele Scott's Wine Lover Mystery series. This one is set in Australia, where Nikki and her boss Derek Malveaux have travelled to seal a deal to import some Australian wines to sell under the Malveaux Winery name. Shortly after their arrival, a high-maintenance actress dies under suspicious circumstances, and Nikki suspects foul play. I really enjoy all the characters in this series, especially Derek's brother Simon, and I thought his role in this story was hilarious. The first four books in this series have all been great reads which I highly recommend.
The Wine Lovers series takes us to Australia, where Nikki's sleuthing gets her into a movie - and, of course, danger. A breezy adventure, with recipes and wine pairings!, "A Vintage Murder" is a perfect specimen of the culinary mystery genre.
good book.....enjoyed the wine history....

I really like this series. In this book, Nikki has chosen between two men, and has chosen her boss, Derek. They fly to Australia to speak to a vintner about distributing his wine under the Malveaux name in the USA.
When they arrived, they found a big movie being shot at the vineyard. It was full of big name stars and such. The lead actress was a diva of epic proportions, and got on everyones nerves. Many hated her, but who killed her. The police rule it an accident, but Nikki had her doubts.
Being an ex actress, she was asked to step into the lead role. She took it to try and find out who had killed Lucy Swanson.
This was a good fun read, with help from Derek's gay brother, who happens to show up in their room for the trip.

I have to say that although I have enjoyed this series from the very beginning--this book was disappointing. For the first time, I found Nikki to be extremely annoying and I didn't buy her reason for investigating the death of the young actress. Maybe it was the different setting or her constant lying to Derek but I hope the next book is better-- the story AND the reason for investigating a death more believable!
