Another one of Ms Hill's Viking Seal/Wheal time travel tales. This time Psychologist Joy Nelson finds herself being sold as a slave in an undercover operation but suddenly finds herself in the middle of a Viking village being offered as a gift to a Viking jarl. He isn't thrilled with the red head with her strange ways and insistence that she isn't any man's slave. Soon she is wrecking havoc with the people in the village and turning Bandr's life upside down. When push come to shove will she stay in this strange place or return home. Fun as alway with a fish out of water feeling.

Though I enjoyed this book as I do all of Sandra Hill's viking novels, it had a real slow start which had me doubting Ms. Hill. But once Joy tumbles through time, the laughs begin. The miscommunication is priceless and hilarious - exactly what is to be expected from Sandra Hill. Joy is a very strong woman with firm ideas and feminist leanings. Brandr is a male chauvinist pig like all men of that time period. The verbal sparring is great fun. Even when Brandr is starving Joy to make her comply to slavery, she comes out ahead. A truly enjoyable tale of time travel and how love really does conquer all.

This was a very good read, some erotic romantic moments as well as a few "laugh out loud" moments.

I've enjoyed other Sandra Hill time travel books and decided to read the Viking II series. All 10 books in under 2 weeks.

I gave this book 4 stars.

This is the 9th book in the Viking II series, and it was about a WEALs recruit, psychologist Joy Nelson, going back in time and meeting Brandr, a Norwegian chauvinist pig. There were sad and funny moments. I was entertained.

This is another in this writer's series of time travel romances in which Navy SEALS meet up with Viking men and women. She offers a story that is implausible at best, but there is some humor in the conflict between Joy, a no nonsense woman SEAL (WEAL) and Brandr, a stereotype Viking who insists on calling her his thrall or slave as much because he wants to aggravate her as he believes all women have basically the same purpose:care of their superior male masters. The language is earthy, the sex scenes are plentiful and the plot pretty predictable and rather thin. Read it if you like all time travel stories, but don't expect to want to stay up all night reading it.
