Fugitive Kait Galweigh is searching for the mirror of souls, an ancient artifact. Kait believes the mirror's magic will restore life to her massacred kin; Crispin, head of the Sabir House, believes the object will make him a god. Both are terribly wrong. For the mirror contains the captive spirits of the Dragons--long-dead sorcerers who once conquered the world. And the Sectet Texts have foretold that one day the Dragons will be released in an apocalyptic war. But the Dragons have also read the Secret Texts and have been waiting a millenium for revenge--making sure they will control which prophecies do, and do not, come true.
An off-beat view of magic developed (possibly) as a result of radioactive fallout from a long ago war. This book follows DIPLOMACY OF WOLVES.

Wow! This sequel was much better than the first book [Diplomacy of Wolves]- unexpectedly so! I really enjoyed learning more about the world of Matrin and its fantastic inhabitants. Some of the events in this book were quite shocking - and none of them were expected! A thrilling adventure, with a cliffhanger of an ending - which makes me very glad that I have the next book all set to be read! I can't wait to see how this series concludes!
