When I read this book, I felt like the author was under a deadline to get it into the publisher. There is little character development, and the plot is ridiculous, even for a romance. And then there are the multiple endings. I count four endings. And I didn't really like the main characters and the endings became cartoonish. There was sex, but no real heat.

The last of the series of four historical romance novels with the Montgomery brothers; the Velvet Angel begins with the kidnapping of Elizabeth Chatworth. She is delivered to Miles Montgomery, the youngest brother of the family that the Chatworths have been warring with for years. The Velvet Angel ends the fued between the two families with the romance of Miles and Elizabeth. The scene at the end, with all the brothers and their respective wives is my favorite of all four books.

Great Book
She came to him as a precious gift, a naked angel rolled in a rug. Once he gazed into her green eyes, saw her tangle of honey blonde hair, he was undone with passion. Elizabeth would never surrender. He was a hated Montgomery -- she was a Chatworth -- and the blood war between their families raged on, a wildfire of rape, murder, and betrayal. Elizabeth vowed to fight the handsome lord, to resist the burning desire in his eyes -- no matter how great the temptation.

I loved this book! Elizabeth has been so much and Miles has more patience than a saint. I liked the story of these two as well as the background of the hatred between the families.

The only thing I was disappointed in is they left me with questions-what happened to Brian? Who was Ela that jumped off the Battlement? Why did Brian poison Raine?

I wished those had been cleared up - but even without them not clearing this up I still truly enjoyed this book.

Miles Montgomery had been loved by many women, but there was only one with the power to capture his heart. She came to hin as an unexpected gift, and once he gazed into her eyes, he was undone with desire.

Elizabeth vowed she would never surrender to the handsome lord. He was a hated montgomery; she was a Chatworth. And the blood war between their families raged on in a storm of murder and betrayal. But love would take it's own course and bind their hearts with a mighty fury, turning fear and hate into trust and forgiveness-and tempation into glorious passion.
