This story takes readers from 1896 London, across the Arabian desert, to the jungles of Africa, back to London, and on to Brazil. I became wrapped up in this story, so much that I didn't want to put it down.
The introduction of the book was a little difficult for me to read, because I was previously totally unfamiliar with the decadent period of London near the turn of the century. Wikipedia cleared up my lack of understanding of that locale and time period.
Once I passed the first few pages, I became wrapt with the story. Just wonderful! Now that I have finished, I am in withdrawl.

I had previously read another of this author's books, The Wedding Officer, prior to reading this book. I was excited to start this book because the previous book by this author was a very easy and fun read. I was greatly disappointed at the poor flow and wordiness of this book. It took me about half the book to become invested enough to want to finish it.
