This book is science fiction but at times it is hilarious. Anyone who has an experience around the military would enjoy this story a woman who leads troops in the future.
I think this is one of Huff's best!
I agree. This is one of Huff's best books. The other in this series is just as good. I hope she writes more in this series.
Well written and very enjoyable.
Tanya Huff does really good military science fiction!
Staff Sergeant Torin Kerr was a battle-hardened professional. So when she and those in her platoon who'd survived the last deadly encounter with the Others were yanked from a well deserved leave for what was supposed to be 'easy' duty as the honor guard for a diplomatic mission to the non-Confederation world of the Silsviss, she was ready for anything.
At first it seemed that all she'd have to contend with was bored troops getting into mischief, and breaking in the new Second Lieutenant who had been given command of her men.
Sure, ther'd been rumors of the Others--the sworn enemies of the Confederation--being spotted in this sector of space. But there were always rumors. The key thing was to recruit the Silsviss into the Confederation before the Others either attacked or claimed this lizardlike race of warriors for their own side. And everything seemed to be going perfectly. Maybe too perfectly . . .

Torin Kerr is a heroine to count on.
Interesting heroine, appealing aliens, nasty boss all add up to the start of a fun series. All in all, a good read.
God Book - Sci fi Military -
Pretty good book. Nice read. At first I had a hard time distinguishing the different species, but eventually I got it. It was a fast read, and relaxing, not to gnarly or gross. Liked the writing enough, it was't shabby.
