While the typestyle is not written as "large" print, the book is
written in larger print than usual ("set in 11/13 point" typesetting.

Another of Catherine Cookson's interesting novels about life in England in the late 19th century. Within the walls of an old mansion, a wealthy shoemaker and businessman has moved his family, hoping to show society in the small village of Fishburn that they have arrived! However, the family has been quite satisfied where they have lived before, and the clash of wills between the master of the house and the butler, Maitland, and the forceful temper of the main character, Samuel Fairbrother, provide the background for lively drama and often humor, too.
