The story is about a boy who has to kill his grandfather after he is bitten by a vampire. The boy growing up to be a detective in the police force. The girl is vampire. An vampire agent. The vampire world is divided into two sides. The Federation which has developed drugs to enable vampires to go into the sun, to be able to feed off a human and NOT turn them into vampires. And a serum that is deadly to all vampires. The other side is from the legends of old...Kill, drink blood, make more vampires...eventually rule the world with humans as a food source.
The two are brought together over a possible killing by a vampire. Following different paths, they try to track down the rogue vampires.
This was a good read, and I am waiting for someone to post the second book in the series, it is on my wish list.
