Mallory has always been my favorite member of the Baby-Sitters Club, but I had kind of outgrown this series by the time this book was released. I'm now getting back into it as an adult, and am catching up on the books that I missed. I really like this book and how it deals with the issue of gender bias in the classroom. It illustrates the conflict and resolution without making the situation look like the teacher is intentionally discriminating. In the larger arc of the series, I wish that this book had dealt more with the bullying that Mallory has been struggling to overcome in earlier books, but it works well as a stand-alone story.
