Umlaut was quite the klutz. But all the girls were attracted to him and would have been more than happy to help him get through his klutzy phase--even if it took the rest of their lives. However, Umlaut's life would take a big turn when he finds a bunch of letters addressed to various occupants of Xanth ... and beyond.
Being part Boy Scout, Umlaut feels he should deliver the letters to the addressees, even though they are kind of old. His first letter is addressed to the Demon Jupiter. But, when he delivers it, the Demon is so angered that he hurls his Red Spot at Earth which, in turn, places the magical land of Xanth in peril.
Umlaut doesn't know what to do now, so he asks the Good Magician, who advises him to continue delivering the letters. But what if he makes someone else mad? And how can delivering old letters from Mundania, help save Xanth?
This was a pretty good adventure, though I wouldn't rate as one of the top offerings in this series. I would still recommend it, and will continue to try and catch up to the current Novel, which I think I am able to see at the end of the tunnel :o)

Always a fun read.
Once again, another pun filled adventure in Xanth! Great story!!
definitely not one Piers' better stories for Xanth. Anyone who knows anything about Xanth, the higher demons and souls can pretty much guess how this book will end. Though meeting some of the new and old characters along with their short stories as to how they all came to join the quest was nice.
I love all of his Xanth books. They're innocent but fun.
Powerful story - a great read
