Branded as a gold-digging tramp, Bailey Wingate is used to being ostracized by people that don't even know her. Cam Justice is no exception. It was bad luck that put Cam in the pilot's seat of the plane that would take her to Denver. So excited to get away on vacation, even Cam can't dampen Bailey's mood.

Cam Justice prefers not to have contact with Bailey Wingate. Pegging her as an Ice Queen, Cam has turned all of Bailey's flights over to his partner, Bret. Only Bret being violently ill could ever make Cam fly Bailey anywhere. That's exactly what happens and Cam finds himself enclosed in a small jet with the Ice Queen herself.

When their plane goes down, Cam realizes that his very survival depends on the woman he despises. Cam soon comes to see that there is more to Bailey Wingate that meets the eye. When they both find that the plane was deliberately brought down, Bailey knows exactly who wants her dead. Both her and Cam are determined to get back to Seattle to prove it.

Up Close and Dangerous is not Linda Howard at her best. While this was an entertaining book, it wasn't what I've come to expect from a Howard novel. I enjoyed the story of Cam and Bailey and how they had to set aside personal feelings so they could stay alive. Howard did a really good job of showing how fast things can change when your survival depends on another person.

I absolutely loved this book!

The storyline was well thought out, the heroine strong but realistic with a vulnerable side, the hero is a take charge kind of guy who you instantly love and then there's the WHOPPER of a surprise ending! You won't be sorry you read this book.

If you want a fun mystery/thriller, get this book.

A plane crash, survival in the wilderness with two people that don't really like each other. How they survive and what happens to their relationship is a fun read.

I recommend this book, it's a page turner.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was exciting and the characters really developed nicely. I found myself trying to tell the characters how to solve their immediate problems, and couldn't figure out the ending.

When her husband dies and leaves Bailey Wingate in charge of her adult stepchildren's fortune, they are not happy with her believing she is a golddigger. Bailey, who needs to get away from the continuing war with her stepchildren, leaves on a much needed vacation in Denver. But when her small plane develops engine trouble, Pilot Cam Justice has to crash-land the aircraft in the Idaho mountains. Stranded in the wilderness, Bailey and Cam must work side by side, trying to answer the questions of who tampered with the plan? Who wants Bailey dead? And will they ever be rescued?

I was thoroughly entertained by this book. Cam believed Bailey is a spoiled Ice Queen until she proves that there is more to her by saving his life. Bailey doesn't like to have anyone get close to her...either physically or emotionally. But she doesn't have much choice when she has to depend on another person and work together to stay alive. My rating: 5 Stars.

I liked this book. I wish the story had gone a little farther, though.

When Bailey Wingate gets in a charter plane with Cam Justice, a pilot she dislikes, she has no idea how useful the camping items she has packed for the water rafting trip she was flying to will be necessary. On the other hand, Cam has no idea that the woman he is flying to Denver will save his life, even though he thinks she is a spoiled gold digger. When the plane crashes in the snowy mountains, both of their lives change forever. This is a very enjoyable survival story.

I did enjoy the story, but got a little bogged down in the survival details. Overall it was entertaining, but by no means her best book.

I didn't think I was going to like this book when I first started. Reminded me too much of the Harrison Ford/Anne Heche movie. Nevertheless, I was wrong. I liked the characters. I liked the twist. The only complaint about any of Linda Howard's books are they are too short. I get so into the characters, I want more!
