Retired tax inspector Mr. Pringle doesnt want to go to Las Vegas, but fate and his lady friend Mavis Birnell conspire against him. Accepting an accountancy position in a film company, he heads west, unaware tat he is to be used as a pawn in an ingenious seam. Once n the gambling Mecca, he inadvertently witnesses the heist of the century; and, as he and Mavis are hunted down along the crowded Strip, his very worst fears are soon to be realized.

This was a quite often a humorous romp for the British couple to be touring through America with Pringle never really understanding why the film company couldnt just use an American accountant instead of hauling him all the way from another continent! The whole movie thing just doesnt really seem closure, with the crew being so small, the arrangements so flimsy and no one really consulting him about the accounts! The Americans they run into help move the story along. Even with all the deaths, the cops never really hurt anyone.my first Livingston book and will definitely look up more of them. A cute, funny well plotted romp through the West!
