This book was just not as good as the first three. The time line of the book really got to me. I find it hard to believe that all of the things Zoey and her friends went through happened in two measly months! The other thing that annoyed me was Zoey's flip-flopping between all of her "boyfriends". Her hormones definitely needed toning down and I just didn't want to read about it anymore. The plot was interesting, but I'm getting to the point where I am not starting to care about what is happening. I'm not as anxious to read the next book as I was previously.

This is #4 in the series and the 5th in the series is not yet released! In this book, PC and Kristin Cast outdid themselves by leaving us at the edge of the high high cliff!

Zoey and her friends are about to blaze a new trail.

If you haven't read this series, it is a vampire series, but a new kind of vamp, that doesn't feed on humans......most of the time, and is very engaging and if you aren't reading it you're wondering what is going to happen and when you are reading it you are wondering what is going to happen. If you do happen to put the book down, you will be anxious for time to pick it up and read it again!!!

This is considered young adult, but if you like vamps, you will enjoy this series!! Twilight is really hard to beat, but this comes in a close 2nd I think!!

This is the fourth book in the House of Night series and was by far the best book of the series. It is the only book in the series so far that I have felt comfortable saying I really liked it and enjoyed the story.

With the murders of the teachers in the third book things are beginning to come to a head in this book. Zoey is out of boyfriends, so to speak, so of course she is absolutely enchanted by the new kid in school, Stark. With Stevie Rae somewhat her normal self, she takes a back seat in this story but still plays a few big parts as a new type of vampire. The mythos developed in this story around the evil Nefertiti was engaging and very interesting. Nefertiti is here in all her evil glory; and man is she evil.

Zoey without boyfriends is awesome because Zoey is actually focused on the actual plot and this makes for a way more interesting book than the last one was. So, for everyone who hung on with the series despite the barely okay third book, you are rewarded in this book. Things really come to a climax in this book; it makes me extremely grateful that I have book 5 on hand. Things pretty much end in the middle of everything and if you had to wait for the 5th book to come out you would be pulling your hair out.

So, all in all, this was a great book. I hope that things continue to be as good in the fifth book. I love the characters; the writing quality is still mediocre at best, but it is a fun and quick read.

This series surprised me. It is marketed to teens and written about teen vampires, but the books have a more mature theme and dialogue to them than most of the books of the teenage genre. Written in the first person, it does give a more clear idea of what is going on in the main character's head. There are a lot of creepy elements including dark magic, invoking evil spirits and blood rituals. Warning: the characters in this book are teenagers who are quite promiscuous (even includes teacher/student and child/adult sexual relationships). Good story, good writing, not a great idea for young teenagers or those that would be offended by the sex and dark magic issues.

I think that this is a great and addicting series. It actually accurately represents how teens talk and act (even though it's really annoying sometimes) so some adults who have blinders on may find it unbelievable with all the swearing and sex. I find it so much better than a couple of other teen vampire series just because the characters aren't all emo and constantly making me want to stake them myself. It's a fast-paces and quick read and I hope the series is around for awhile.

Zoey Redbird just can't seem to get it right.

After losing three potential boyfriends, alienating her closest vampyre buddies, and incurring the wrath of her mentor, Neferet, Zoey is on a downward spiral to Loserville. This young high priestess-in-training has a lot on her plate since transferring to the House of Night. Her abilities are creating quite a stir on campus and Zoey is not used to having all the attention on her.

Since her recent admittance into the vampyre school, things have changed, and not for the better.

Professors are being murdered, fledglings are disappearing, and Neferet has declared war on all humans. Stevie Rae, Zoey's best friend, has been transformed into another type of vampyre, and Aphrodite, Zoey's one-time nemesis, has regained her humanity, but continues to have life-altering visions. Zoey must use all of her abilities to unite those who wish to save the House of Night and its loyal inhabitants.

The Cast duo has created yet another excellent addition to the HOUSE OF NIGHT series. It is easy to see why these novels have become so popular; the stories are well-written, and the dialogue is at times extremely clever and sometimes biting. Young adult readers can relate to the mundane, everyday-ness of Zoey's activities (i.e.going to class, having arguments with friends, etc.), while losing themselves in the otherworldly aspects of the students' lives.

This is a definite must-read for fans of the House of Night!
