Brockmann's Tall, Dark, and Dangerous books were great within the constraints of series romance. But The Unsung Hero is a full-length novel which develops the Navy Seal Team concept much further. Successfully interweaves storylines from present-day and World War II. Highly romantic while full of action. First in the series.

Tom Paoletti is a Navy SEAL who's been injured and goes to his hometown to rest and recuperate. Dr. Kelly Ashton is his childhood friend who happens to live next door. What happens when Tom spies a thought-dead terrorist in the airport and then in his hometown? That's one of the plots of this novel. There is also a great story involving Kelly's dad and Tom's uncle set during WWII. This book (written pre 9/11) can be a tough read at times because now terrorism has hit home. But still--it had me riveted throughout and when I got to the last part I couldn't put it down. The WWII story is also a great sub-plot about what it means to be a hero and sacrifice. The conclusion of this novel is one that made me think hard about some truths--something that is pretty impressive for a romance novel.

I like this author. The story is centered around a Navy Seal home to recover from an injury, the girl next door, terrorists and flashbacks to WWII. I enjoyed the love stories and the military action. A very good read.

Excellent action story with three romance plot lines. Tom the Navy SEAL and Kelly the pediatrician reconnect years later after one high school kiss. We learn about WWII through a love triangle with Tom's uncle and Kelly's dad. I also really enjoyed the teen romance between Tom's niece and her "nerd." I appreciate how you get to see the same characters throughout this series.

Another subplot involving Tom's niece also plays nicely into the dramatic finale as Tom and a makeshift team must take on terrorist bombers unaided. With its shift in focus from romance to the action subplot, this novel would make a terrific movie.

I love the Navy seal series. This is about Tom Paoletti foiling a terrorist plot in his hometown. Very plausible especially when you realize it was written before 9/11.

This was an excellent book. I started this series with "Out of Control" and loved it!! So I decided to go back and read from the beginning. there was a good plot, and I enjoyed the characters. I was quickly enthralled in their lives and had a hard time putting the book down. I can't wait to read the rest!

I've only read the Tall, Dark series from Brockmann before this book. With the Tall, Dark series I wasn't able to make a decision about Brockmann's writing. There were stories from the series I absolutely hated and then there were ones I loved. So I wasn't sure how I would feel about this book.
I have to say I was thoroughly impressed with this one and can't wait to keep reading the series. I know the back cover claims the story is about Tom and Kelly but there was so much more. There was the story about Charles and Joe during World War II. There was the story about Tom's niece, Mallory and David. They were interesting and one didn't necessarily out-shine the other. I was really into all three story line. There was also enough danger to keep you on your feet.
Some of Kelly's indecision was annoying but Brockmann kept it at a minimal so that by the time Kelly reaches her epiphany, I wasn't about to kill her. All her characters were well developed and intriguing. I find it interesting that Brockmann made a point of making Tom to be not so physically perfect. I wonder why.

I caught this series further down the list and was thrilled to go back and read about the beginning. There isn't much missed by not reading them in order, but for me it is more enjoyable to meet the players as they are developed. The stamina and endurance of the Navy Seal training helped me through a double knee replacement surgery!

Tom, what a hunk! Even losing the hair is no big deal. I love Suzanne Brockmann and I love her books. She is a wonder at creating suspense while making the romance come alive.
Typical Brockmann. If you like her, you'll like this. I think this book is pretty much the first in the series.

I absolutely loved this book, as well as others by this author. The book is hard to put down, you are dying to know what happens next and you are really into the characters and their lives. I highly recommend!
I'll just keep it simple. It's one of Brockman's Seal books. Worth the read. Need I say more?

I liked the book Unsung Hero the first of the Troubleshooter series. I do not think it was as good as some of the other books in the series. It explains what happens to Tom Paoletti, how he meets his wife Kelly and what happens to him before he starts the Troubleshooter Organization. I liked this story about Tom foiling a terrorist bomb threat using his Seal Team #16 friends his uncle and Kelly's father who are WWII vets as well as his niece Mallory and her boyfriend David. It is light reading, good for the beach but it does have some serious points about issues today.
On a 30-day medical leave after suffering a head wound in the line of duty, Navy SEAL Lt. Tom Paoletti belives he recognizes The Merchant, a presumed dead international terrorist, at the airport. His superiors question his story, wondering if he is suffering from paranoia due to his head injury. As Tom tries to relax while visiting his great uncle Joe, he sees Kelly Ashton, a childhood friend he hasn't seen in years. As Kelly and Tom get reacquainted, they realize the chemistry that drew them together as teenagers is still strong. But when Tom once again sees The Merchant, he questions his sanity. Continuing the series of the Seals Team headed by the hero of this book, Tom Psoletti. It tells the story of international intrigue and the how and why, Tom leaves the Seals to set up his own private firm with his bride, Kelly.
Very slow developing story. Tedious to read. Did not finish book.
