With less than a year of marriage, Stacelyn assumed she and her husband, Dr. Derrick Garrison would still be experiencing the euphoria of honeymoon bliss especially since both of them were Christians and had garnered success in their individual careers. However, the state of their marriage could not be any farther from that illusion of marital bliss. Instead her husband seems to have lost interest in her except for key times of the month.
Like any good Christian wife, Stacelyn prays and sets out to fight for her marriage. Yet the answers to her prayers appear to be coming too late and she falls into bitterness and into the arms of another man, who's willing to show her the attention she craves. Meanwhile, Derrick moves farther away from the Lord as he wrestles with unresolved issues from his past.
Ms Campbell's takes readers along a spell bounding tale of love littered with unresolved issues such as low self-esteem, insecurity, mental illness, and the impact of single parenting. At times I found myself rooting for the characters at others I wanted to chastise them. Although the key characters are Christian, the author does not try to present a fairy tale story but she shows how believers do not always heed to the voice of God. This book captured my attention from beginning to end and I devoured it in less than a day. While this is my first time reading any of Ms Campbell's work, it will not be my last.
