He agrees. — While staying there he... more » meets Granny Adams, the wealthy widow living next door. After finding out how much money she has, Buckley decides to try and get some of it for himself. His plan is to get friendly with her, and when the opportunity arises, force her to withdraw $50,000 from her bank, then take her back to her house, tie her up, and leave the area.
But his plan backfires when, at the bank, Granny struggles to get free and Buckley shoots her. He then turns the gun on Glenn Preston, the only other customer in the bank. But Preston is too fast for him. They struggle for the gun and Glenn overpowers Buckley. He gets the gun and holds Buckley at gunpoint until the police arrive.
Shortly, Officer Mike Crawford, son of Police Chief Earl Crawford, arrives at the bank and rushes in with his gun drawn. Buckley shouts out 'shoot him, he just shot that old woman." Without warning Crawford shoots twice, striking Preston.
Granny dies at the scene. Preston is critically injured. Officer Crawford is declared a hero. Mike Buckley slips away after being questioned by detectives.
