Since finishing her residency, Dr. Katie LeClair has taken a job at a small family practice in Michigan. She likes the idea of getting to know her patients and not having daily emergencies. On her day off, Katie receives a phone call telling her one of her patients, Ellen Reilly, was found unresponsive by her daughter. When she arrives at the hospital, Katie learns that Ellen has died of an apparent overdose. Katie did not believe Ellen was suicidal. She also doesn't remember writing a prescription for the drug that Ellen took.

This is the first story in the Dr. Katie LeClair Mystery series. I'm not sure whether to call it a cozy mystery or a medial thriller. Katie decides to do her own sleuthing with the help of her hacker brother and a handsome doctor at the hospital. Unfortunately, this heroine sometimes bordered on TSTL. For some unknown reason, she didn't tell the police that she didn't write the prescription. And she didn't tell them that she was receiving threatening notes. Other than that, the mystery was well paced with lots of viable suspects. I liked the story well enough to continue with the series.

I listened to the audiobook version. Amanda Dolan did a great job with the narration. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
