ANY book in the DARK-HUNTER series is worth reading... shapeshifters (werewolves, werecats, etc.), vampires, gods, goddesses... this world will draw you in and you will want more and more and more. Don't wait to start with book #1...each story stands on it own and introduces you to previous character...which makes you want to read their book!

This is Wren Tigarian's story. He's the busboy at the Sanctuary bar in New Orleans who rarely speaks but carries a mean growl. The only friend he had was Nick Gautier. Nick is now "missing" (read Seize the Night).
A different side story about being a "deformed" Katagari Were-Hunter. Wren is part Tiger, part Leopard and part Human. He's considered a freak in nature and nobody cares for him. Actually, they're all afraid of him because they don't understand him. His parents are dead and he works at the Peltier's bar, Sanctuary peacefully.

Until... Maggie comes into the bar to pay her respects to her study-buddy, Nick. Maggie and Wren are attracted to each other.

No Dark Hunter or God stories included here. Generally a good story about a boy who's been discriminated against because he's different and met with hatred and pity. With Maggie's love, Wren learns to accept himself; but before they can live happily ever after, Wren is marked for death and Maggie helps him to hope to find a solution and they seek the answers in his past and discover a whole lot of interesting information.

It's a great break from the traditional Dark Hunter plot; but Wren and Maggie are connected through Nick.

We get introduced to Savitar, who rumor has it that he originally trained Ash to be a Dark Hunter. We get a glimpse of the Omegrion "Congress of the Were-Hunters" during Wren's 'trial'.

Most interesting and a great resource is the glossery of all the verbage to the series in the back of this book.

In this book we are introduced to more of Nick Gautier's friends. This was a fun and moving story of compassion. There are plenty of references to the other books and story lines for faithful readers, but the work stands alone as well.
A very enjoyable read!

I admit it's been awhile since I visited this series and I'm woefully behind at this point. Don't worry, after reading "Unleash.." I'm kicking myself harder than anyone else could. This book was awesome!! Everything one would want in a paranormal romance! Tortured, antisocial Were animal finds the one woman who calms and centers him only to find she is NOT his chosen mate AND there is a contract on his life. YUM!!! love, suspense, angst... everything! Why or why did I ever leave?!?

First let me say that I may be biased in this review as I am more than a little in love with Wren myself.
There's something about Kenyon's feral men that just do it for me.
Wren's character is strong, fierce, feral, but believable. You want to just protect him but at the same time he doesn't come off as pitiable or pitiful.
He and Maggie just sizzle.

An orphan with no clan that will claim him, Wren Tigarian grew to adulthood under the close scrutiny and mistrust of those around him. A forbidden blend of two animals--snow leopard and white tiger--Wren has never listened to anyone when there was something he wanted. Now he wants Marguerite.
Marguerite Goudeau is the daughter of a prominent U.S. senator who hates the socialite life she's forced to live.

In order to have Marguerite, Wren must fight not just the humans who will never accept his animal nature, but the Were-Hunters who want him dead for endangering their world. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Marguerite and Wren not just their lives, but their souls.

A Dark-Hunter Novel. This book takes you deeper into the world of the Were-Hunters and Sanctuary. The world of the Were's and that of humans is never to meet but Marguerite Goudeau, daughter of a prominent senator, when her home becomes the only refuge available to Wren, the shifter to saved her life only days earlier. Wren is despised by both his mother's and father's clans since hybrid's, those who can change to more than one shape, are considered abominations. He has lived at Sanctuary most of his life after the death of his parents, whom many suspected he killed. Now drawn irresistibly to a human female, his interest threatens the secrecy of the Were community. Along with lies spread throughout the years concerning his mental stability, the ruling council has decided he must be executed. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Maggie and Wren their lives...and their very souls.

I picked this book up before entering a plane ride for Atlanta. I did not know what I was getting into. I read half way through the book on that trip. It was an easy read. It drew me in. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I only started to read it because I want to get to Archeron and don't believe in skipping. This one was good though, it had GREAT plot, the satisfying twists and curves, and it was pretty steamy. I think I like Wren the most of all the guys so far. I only gave a 4 because it was a bit muddled at the end, and it took a couple of rereads to understand what was happening.

Two people unhappy with their lives until they meet. They have a great story. I really liked this one. The book also has a excerpt from the next book-Dark Side of the Moon coming in June 2006. This was the worst book of the DH series! I could not believe the turn it took! I was surprised that Kenyon would turn a certain good family into hateful bigots. She made this family out to be gold in previous books and then completely did an about face in UTN. Not to mention there was no action in the book just a bland run through of a beginning romance between Wren and the senators daughter!
I normally read Kenyons books over and over again this book will not be read again...its not worth my time.

Marguerite, the daughter of a wealthy senator, has little interest in the socialite life her father wants for her. So when New Orleans friends decide to go to a bar called Sanctuary, curiosity prompts her to tag along. There she meets Wren, a shy busboy. The attraction is immediate on both sides--and dangerous. Wren is a hybrid were-animal, an outcast even in his own supernatural world, and he's been marked for death. Marguerite should leave, but their fates and hearts are now entwined, and she knows there is no turning back. In this second novel to feature the Weres, Kenyon defies expectations once again. Wren the loner plays a tortured Romeo to Marguerite's Juliet, a young man coming to terms with who and what he is and having to find his niche in the world. This depth and vulnerability of character has not been seen before in her heroes and proves a challenge for Kenyon, but the result is a thrill ride filled with magic, action, and scintillating passion.

Marguerite D'Aubert Goudeau is the daughter of a prominent US Senator who hates the socialite life she's forced to live. Like her mother before her, she has strong Cajun roots that her father doesn't understand. Still, she has no choice but to try and conform to a world where she feels like an outsider. But the world of the rich and powerful humans is never to meet the world of the Were-Hunters who exist side by side with them, unseen, unknown, undetected. To break this law is to call down a wrath of the highest order.

In order to have Marguerite, Wren must fight not just the humans who will never accept his animal nature, but the Were-Hunters who want him dead for endangering their world. It's a race against time and magic without boundary that could cost Marguerite and Wren not just their lives, but their very souls...

This is a shape shifter book, I've never read one before. LOL The Comcast digital voice commercials kept coming on. The one where the guy got tattooed as a tiger and calls the artist back saying he has Comcast now. & the artist says "Sorry Roger You Tiger Now!"
Anyway it was tough to keep a straight face and take it seriously.
The back to the future and past parts got ridiculous. Hello if you can flash yourself anywhere than why not freakin do it? The ending where someone moves their hand and shows a flashback on the wall was really cheesey. Yeah right ok, well if you can do that then why not do it from the beginning and skip all the time travel all together. LOL
I get the feeling that although Kenyon is the mother of four boys, she is writing for teenagers. I am 32 and I found a lot of this book just plain silly. There are a lot of things that didn't add up, and although I can handle some fantasy with my fantasy, I have to be able to make heads or tails of it. I think intelligent people will have trouble swallowing this one.

Overall the book was OK the sex was hot, but I think the book Night Pleasures was better. By at least two stars. I DUNNO I guess the animal shape shifter thing just isn't as hot to me as Vamps. The flashing to the past and future was just ridiculous. If every character could do that they would have killed everybody off long ago & therefore the plot just falls to pieces.
I will read her next book. I think she has talent. I just think this one got away from her and seemed rushed. She just didn't plan it out well because most of this book just plain doesn't make sense.
