I don't know if the things this author alleges happened or not. We're not offered much in the way of proof, although there's a lot of hearsay and a certain amount of vague religious hysteria. The story I came away with was that of an unpleasant man with a pleasant writing voice who wants attention for something that he says happened to him.

I just don't believe that any of this happened. Perhaps if the writing had been better, or if this guy had been a bit more likeable and had not come off from the beginning as such a complete arrogant jerk, I'd feel different about it. As it is, I can understand, reading this, why his first wife left him with three kids he apparently wanted more than she did but had no clue how to care for. (I do feel sorry for the kids.) I was glad to finish the book to get away from this guy. He spent more time whining about his wife leaving him than he did giving a clear picture of his purported haunting.

I'm glad there's a line of people wishing for this book. It will be a pleasure to mail it out of my house.

I just finished the Uninvited. I am very happy I decided to read it. The book was shocking all the way through. It takes a lot to scare me and this book had me so creeped out. It was a lot different than your average ghost story. This house actually does sound evil. I have always been a fan of haunted places but with all the things that transpired I don't think I would want to step inside this house. Pick it up and give it a read, you won't be disappointed.

The writing is terrible. The writer contradicts himself and is not likeable or credible, which made this book not frightening at all. One star.

The cover design is scarier than the contents. The writing is not done well and there is more detail on mundane life things than actual paranormal incidents. The book could have been written about half the size it is now if the "boring and unnecessary parts" had been forfeited and the author had just gotten more to the point throughout. Be prepared for ALOT of fluff without much payoff in creepiness. Meh.

This is a great book. I am pretty sure that it is in fact a true story because I have met and spoken with Steven LaChance about the story.
