I found the book interesting (I read half of it, that's pretty good for my attention span.) He gets a lot of flak from a lot of folks (especially after claiming to have discovered Jesus's tomb), he rambles a lot about everything this side and up to the big bang, and he has a propensity to make sure statements about things that are rather unsure (like the date of the Thera explosion, which he states unequivocally to be 1628BC, although there is much disagreement over that), although he is good at some other things about recognizing the lack of clarity about historical and pre-historical events (he's a meteor-wasn't-the-only-reason-dinosaurs-died devotee).
