A large book of short articles, this book is good for when you have a few minutes that you have to wait on something and nothing to occupy your mind. Very interesting.

astonishing facts, bizarre photographs, fascinating, sometimes deeply weird true stories.

This is a fantastic book for anyone interesting in little-known history and historical misrepresentations. Author Richard Zacks covers corrections to historical "facts" that we always thought were true, information about beloved historic figures deemed too sordid for the textbooks, and just plain odd, bizarre, & often amusing trivia. His style is lively and entertaining, making this a fun (as well as educational) read. In fact, I read it straight through, although it is divided by subject for those who want to skip around. Zacks is meticulous about his sources, as well; you needn't take his word for it. A complete bibliography of his sources is included at the end, and it is actually rather entertaining in and of itself.
