Cindy Gerard has written a wonderfully suspenseful book with UNDER THE WIRE. Lily and Manny are both extremely likeable characters, whose emotions and beliefs are excellently and realistically written. Locations and settings are described with absolute clarity, taking readers into each scene with the characters. Secondary characters, with their unique personalities and relationships, add a great deal of interest and intrigue to the story, past and present. Frequent flashbacks take readers into the past and go far in interpreting the lives and personalities of Lily and Manny. I have read all but one of the previous books in this series and have enjoyed each and every one; UNDER THE WIRE is no exception. These books are a real treat when read in order, but each capably stands on its own. I give a high recommendation for this book, as well as the previous books, to all readers who enjoy riveting romantic suspense.

Story of Manny and Lily. Not my favorite of the Bodyguard stories, but still worth the read.

They met at a party in Nicaragua. Nurse Lily Campora didn't expect to be romanced by Soldier Manolo Ortega. Their whirlwind relationship ended when she came home from a shift at the hospital to find him gone. Days later she was told he had died in combat. Now seventeen years later, Lily has discovered that Manny is alive and living in Boston. At first she is hesitant to talk to him. But when she finds out her teenage son has been kidnapped in Sri Lanka while working on a humanitarian mission, she knows Manny may be his only hope. Manny never forgot Lily; nor has he forgiven her for betraying him to the Sandinistas. Nevertheless, when she tells him that they have a son who is in mortal danger, Manny will do anything to save him.

Another very good addition to Cindy Gerard's Bodyguards series. Manny is a friend of the Garret family who now works for them. He, along with Lily and some of the Garrets fly to Sri Lanka to rescue Lily's son and the family he was staying with. The book is very descriptive. The author does a great job of making you feel like you are in the middle of the action. From meeting Arms dealers in back alleys, to running through the jungle while being chased by guerilla fighters, I was totally pulled into the story. My rating: 4 Stars.

This is the 5th book in the Bodyguard series. This is a story about a friend, Manny, of the Garret family. I didn't think I would like this book as well as I did the ones about the Garrett family but once I got into it I liked it. This is story of Manny Ortega who we first meet in Nicaragua when he is 18 then reconnect with about 17 years later. Lily Campora is of course te woman that drives him crazy for years with all kinds of emotions. When they reconnect they end up in Sri Lanka on a interesting mission.

Really good romance thriller in the Bodyguard series. This is the story of Manny and Lily. For a week they had, despite the fact that Lily is ten years older than Manny, had enjoyed a hot love affair in Nicaragua. But betrayal breaks them up. Now years later, Lily must ask for help to find their 17 year son in Sira Leone.

If you like Cindy Gerard or fast paced, invigorating books, you HAVE to read this. I read it, with the entire series and this was by far my favorite. It does have graphic sexual scenes, as do all of the Bodyguard books, but this one made me want to move south and find a Latin lover. Of course, my darling husband may have an issue with that so I just read it twice, just to relive it! It has the romance of a long, lost love and the energy and the excitement of a new one found in the old love. Plus, you can forget the Garrett boys and their special op talents! One of my favorite fun reads, when I don't look to learn something or improve upon something... just when I want to get lost in the moment!

BECAUSE OF HER, HE LOST EVERYTHING

Manny Ortega is a man without a country, and he has one woman to thank for it. She was his first and only true love, and when she left, she took more than his heart--she took his life as he knew it. Hardened and honed sharp as a knife by years as a special forces soldier and police detective, Manny is ready for a fresh start at his friend Ethan Garrett's security firm. But the past isn't ready to let him go...

TO KEEP HER SAFE...

Lily Campora never imagined what would happen to Manny after she walked away from him that night in the sultry Nicaraguan heat--or how he'd hated her for it every day since. Seventeen years later, Lily knows everything, and she must put her fear of Manny's rage aside to beg for his help. His forgiveness may be too much to hope for...

HE'LL DO ANYTHING

Thrust into action on a mission that will transport them to a country rife with political turmoil and civil unrest, Manny and Lily must find a way to work together. And now, amidst the dangerous beauty of a landscape reminiscent of Manny's homeland, passion will ignite once more...
