This one was one of my favorites so far! I read the book in less than 2 days (I have to work too lol). I am so eager for the next book it is almost killing me! Finally saw a different side to Betsy - she's finally using her brain! Laura is getting scarier though and I have a feeling I know who followed them back (can't spoil that for you!). July cannot get here soon enough! I have to admit, I kinda forced myself through the first 4 books or so, but I love this series now. MJD - you are doing an excellent job! Keep it up!

Warning: Spoilers Inside!

I really hope this is not the last of the Queen Betsy books. I have held off writing a review of these books even though Betsy has annoyed me since book 1. She is vain, narcissistic, and shallow. She doesn't pay attention to the things or people around her and it gets her in trouble in every book. This is all of her own making, but it's like a train wreck--horrible, but you just can't look away (or in this case, stop reading).

That being said, I sincerely hope that MJ Davidson does not choose to finish her series with this book. To show a future Betsy with a totally different personality and intelligence is NOT BELIEVABLE in the least. To have the question of "WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED?" answered, there needs to be more books. To think that Betsy loses her vanity, gains intelligence, falls out of love with Sinclair--enough to turn him into the Book of the Dead!!!!--just doesn't make sense without the filling in of the blanks.

This was a decent, quick, fun series until this last book. This one just ruined it for me unless a lot of questions are answered. Here's hoping for future books!

ETA: I am grateful to hear that MJ Davidson is NOT ending the series yet. Undead and Undermined is scheduled to come out 7/5/2011. Here's hoping some of our questions are answered!

Not a fan of this one. I'm very much hoping that it's a set up for the next book in the series. If this is the last book I'll be very upset!

After th crap of book 8, I refused to pay for another MJD book. Unfortunately I didn't count on borders going out of business and getting it for 70% off. I almost kicked myself for caving after the first 100 pages had Betsey reviewing past books (despite MJD providing a one page review in the begining) and whining like a self absorbed biotch. Despite her attempts to keep the new reader abreast of the storyline, this is not a standalone story and you really shouldn't start here in the series.

Luckily I stuck with it and was pleasantly surprised to find a good plot and crazy ending. After the crap from book 8 I figured MJD would either come with something great or fail completely. I've read many reviews of this book where people rant and rave and hate the ending thinking the series is over. I'm thinking it was a genius choice to get back the readers for the next 2 books of her contract.
My only regret is not holding out 3 more months for the next book to come out.
P.s
I'm sure she must have been aware of the previous books' bad reviews because she left a rather catty acknowledments page. She thanks not all of her readers but just those on her fan pages/mail. Also she quotes that ultimatly she writes for herself. Hm...
