She was Hollywood's Best-Kept Secret: the heartrending true story of the daughter of Clark Gable and Loretta Young. With photographs throughout from Judy Lewis's family album.

Fascinating and bittersweet memoir of long lost Hollywood from the illegitimate daughter of Loretta Young and Clark Gable. She was kept a secret and then adopted by her own Mother. I loved this book and recommend it.

Great book.
Of all of the Hollywood biopics I've read (my guilty little pleasure), this was the most fulfilling. I never cared much for Loretta Young one way or the other, but Judy Lewis is another story! She was a fine writer and the book reads almost like a novel, except that a novel might have been more satisfying because the characters might have behaved less selfishly. "Uncommon Knowledge" is a good (though sad) story, and as a reader, I was constantly rooting for little Judy, and very gratified when Judy finally was able to stop living in her mother's powerful shadow and follow her own dream. Quite an amazing woman, and twice the person either of her parents ever dreamed of being!
I enjoyed this book very much, and my heart went out to Judy for the terrible ordeal she had to go thru. I was very angry at both gable and young for their selfishness and not a thought at all to poor Judy. I give this book a 5 star rating.
Will give to the gay rummage sale if it doesn't go on PBS, we LOVE stories of disfunctional families.
