Wow! I'm stunned at all of the crappy reviews for this book. I'm wondering if those reviewers read the whole thing or got bored and didn't finish.
This book IS slow moving at parts- but it also forces you to think, jump ahead, rewind and reconsider information that you just got.... I think this book is great. I LOVE stories that swing you into an entirely different direction in last sentence. I would recommend this book. I think it's too bad that it has gotten such poor reviews.

Three to four stars. This book is reminiscent of Hitchcock, with a slow build to an inevitable climax, but then you reach the end and still wonder what was missed; although it all moved so slowly.

A historical fiction with a little bit of an eerie thriller twist. Rose is telling the story from the future and it is obvious that from the start the story is going to go downhill at some point, but the reader just doesn't know when, where and why. The who part is easy - it is clear that the new typist Odalie will be involved in some way.
