Good Read. Not Turtledoves best. One dimensional characters. Almost half the book describes food, which is a bit tiresome. I loved the alternate history of America and the rest of the world had there been no American Revolution.

I generally enjoy alternate history stories (favorite is Bring the Jubilee), but I was not able to get "into" this book and abandoned it about 70 pages in. Not sure what was that uninteresting, maybe I was just not in the mood for this type of story right then (but if it had been better written, then maybe I'd have kept going.)

It was an intresting story. The descriptions of the alternate world was interesting but there were several flaws in the logic I thought. It seems highly unlikely that such a world could have evolved. I didn't quite understand the lack of technology either. Having lived in the UK for awhile I was amused at the things that were brought over to the NAU. There did seem to be a lot of time spent describing food and resturants. It was like one of the authors was on a diet while writing. It was a good mystery and several times when I thought I had figured it out I was suprised by logical plot twists. I did figure it out before the end of the book but that's okay too. I woulnd't call this a great book but I would reccommend reading it if you enjoy a whodunit or alternate world scenarios.

A precious painting has been stolen by terrorists---radical separatists who will stop at nothing to shatter the union. Colonel Thomas Bushell, the government's most fearless agent, is the only man who can stop them.
But this is not our world. Foe the stolen painting depicts a treaty of peace between George Washington and King George III---a treaty that has kept America under British rule for two centuries. And the terrorists, who call themselves the "Sons of Liberty," want America to be free.
