The first time I read this book, I didn't care for it. But for some reason, the storyline stuck in my head until I had convinced myself that I wanted to read it again. So I bought it and started reading and promptly remembered everything that had turned me off about it before. The heroine is an idiot, and the guy (no champ in the brains department either) is so mean to her. And then that stupid bit at the end about the real estate and her jerky father? I mean really, lets just throw in another contrived obstacle to them having a relationship.

Honestly, my first thought when I finished it was that I was never going to get back those few hours of my life I had wasted on it.

A reissue of an older Sandra Brown title. Rusty Carlson is returning to LA from a hunting weekend with her father. Her small plane crashes in the wilds of Canada. The only other survivor is Cooper Landry, a cynical Vietnam vet who judges Rusty as a spoiled, pampered lady- for which he has no tolerance. What follows is their story of survival and the breaking down of emotional walls for both of them. Quick read.

After a plane crash, two strangers are stranded together in the mountains fighting to stay alive. Rusty Carlson didn't like Cooper Landry. She was even a little afraid of him. But he was the only thing keeping her alive in the Canadian wilderness. Nursing her back to health while searching for food and shelter, Cooper wonders how long it will be before a winter storm sets in. Soon they stumble across a filthy cabin with two even dirtier inhabitants.

This book was written in 1987 and really doesn't stand up too well with time. Cooper has a giant chip on his shoulder believing all beautiful women just take advantage of men. Rusty is a spoiled "daddy's girl" who knows nothing about wilderness survival. Except for the mutual lust, they have nothing in common. Brown throws in some bad dialogue and every cliche known to man into the story, but somehow it is still somewhat entertaining. I would give this a higher grade but I really didn't like the way Brown ended the story. The ending was "told" rather than "shown" to us. My rating: 3 Stars.

Older romance (1987) but a good storyline. Reminded me somewhat of Diana Palmer's characters.

Plausible plot about how two survivors from a plane crash in northern wilderness manage to survive. Sandra Brown does not disappoint!

Rusty Carlson was hurt, terrified and alone with a man she didn't trust. But one thing was certain---after the plane crash that stranded them in the remote reaches of the north, she would die without him.
Cooper Landry had a deep-rooted grudge against beautiful women like Rusty Carlson. Past experience had taught him they were takers. But he'd survived far worse dangers and this time he'd be damned if he'd let her risk his chance for survival.
There were predators in the dense woods--both animal and human--and the odds were against them. They could handle that--but they weren't prepared for the discovery that a man and woman needed more than just the skills to survive. They needed each other.

Loved it. The survival skills combined with romance plus danger was a great read.
