3rd book in series and the best one so far. The book is still very "traditional" romance and a far cry from vampire urban fiction popular today, but the story has dark elements to it. I like the fact that the characters from the two previous books play a role in this one and develop their characters a little farther. Overall a decent book. Not my favorite but I really feel encouraged that as the series progresses, each story line will get better.

This series is ok. This particular book was a little slow in places but ok on the whole.

The oldest vampire known in existence has been flaunting his talents as a magician but when his volunteer assistance's are coming up dead he is scared that his mind as been blanking out and knot realizing what he is doing. His latest volunteer happens to be a Choosen but also a PI and that Shannon is looking into her friends murder. Her friend was killed by a lose of blood by two punched holes in her neck, and the last person to see her was Damien, so Sharron confronts the recluse magician and see what he has to say. Damien never wanted to get mixed up with a Choosen and kept to himself for centuries and never having any friends since he lost his brother to his soul (Enkidu). But around Sharron he starts to get feelings that are strange to a six thousand year old vampire because Shannon brings out his emotions that he never realized he had. Sharron is on her death bed and the last thing she wanted to do was bring her friends murderer to justice, but she never counted on the man to be as old as Damien. Damien was Gilgamesh from Sumerian religion ( Ancient Mesopotamian religion) and so was Enkidu. Also we get to see Eric- for most of the book, Tamera, Roland and Rhiannon come in towards the end for the battle, but Roland came to help as a thank you for saving him from the sun in his story.
