I found this book to be very peaceful. It's kinda of like growing up in a small town where everyone knows you, leaving for a long while, & then going back and realizing how mush you missed the people there.
My husband read this book and said it was very good
From the bestselling author of The Greatest Salesman In the World comes this inspirational bestseller. Broken by the death of his wife and son, John Harding finds a special gift in managing his old Little League team and finds himself especially drawn to one little boy who resembles his late son. "One of the most touching books I have ever read".--Norman Vincent Peale
"Nestled in the heart of New England, the proud community of Boland, New Hampshire, is honoring the return of one of its own. John Harding had it all: a high-powered career, a loving wife, and a beautiful seven-year-old son. Then, through a tragic twist of fate, John's life plummets from its peak to the utmost depths of despair. His wife and son are killed in a car accident. Shattered beyond hope, John withdraws into what's left of his world, teetering on the brink of suicide.
But soon there's a light: an old friend appears on his doorstep with comforting words and a favor to ask. He wants John to manage his old Little League team, the Angels. John reluctantly accepts. During the tryouts he meets a hopelessly uncoordinated little boy named Timothy Noble. John finds himself drawn to this pint-sized player who bears a striking resemblance to his beloved son - and through this extraordinary relationship John finds the wisdom in living that he had thought had slipped beyond his grasp forever..."

I found this book to be a pleasant book that left you with a good feeling about the world and the people in it. Not too sappy with real easy-to-feel emotions expressed. It has a last minute twist that I never saw coming. It made the whole book very memorable.
Wife and son are killed in accident and John contemplates suicide. Then an old friend appears and asks him to manage a Little League team.

Another excellent read by Og Mandino! Grab a cup of coffee and sit in a comfortable chair with the book. The endings are always a treat. Great read!
