Neil Gaiman is by far, in my opinion, the most talented fantasy writer of the past 50 years. I would add "with due respect to his peers", except he HAS no peers.
"The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains" describes a journey by two mystical beings. They may be out to find a mystical treasure, or they may be out to find their destinies. One of them has a secret in fact, as do all men, BOTH of them have their own secrets except that the secrets may have some hidden tie. (Anything more detailed would risk constituting a spoiler.)
This is not the greatest of Gaiman's works and it's STILL 5 stars. For the others ... well, 5 is as high as they let you go.
RATING: 5 stars
