This book should be read by any aspiring writer and every high school composition class. It is not a book about writing, but one of the absolute best written memoirs I've ever read. Perry writes makes allusions to classical literature, pop culture, modern physics and other equally eclectic topics with tack-sharp wit. His voice is refreshing, his vocabulary wide-ranging, and his heart unmistakable. This books makes me want to read more of his writing, with the only trepidation that I might not like his other books as much as this one!

So funny I laughed out loud! Seems like you are right there with him and the author is so knowledgeable in so many areas.

I like Michael Perry's books. There's humor as well as glimpses of small town life in the two I've read although at times he does tend to navel gaze a bit. That being said, I did enjoy this one a lot. It was a follow up to Population 483 and he continued to let us know how his family and people in his hometown were doing. I do recommend it.
