Third in the Ophelia and Abby series featuring Ophelia, a small-town librarian and psychic/witch and her grandmother Abby, also a witch. This book moves from their home in Iowa to a secluded lake in Minnesota where O & A have gone to investigate the disappearance of the daughter of a friend of reporter Rick Delaney at his request. She was last known to be associated with a group of people doing psychic investigations and Abby's intuition tells her that she and Ophelia need to be there. Staying in a cabin on the lake where PSI, the group involved, lives, Abby and Ophelia begin to pick up some strange vibes from the moment they arrive, as well as a host of interesting characters. I did pinpoint the bad guy very early on (maybe I'm psychic?? ;-)) but still enjoyed the story and have enjoyed getting to know the recurring characters better with each book. The next one definitely looks interesting, which you'll understand when you get to the ending of this one--bit of a surprise, that!

Ophelia has finally opened up to learning about more about her psychic abilities from her grandmother, Abby. This aspect annoys me. She visited Abby during summers and was aware of the traits the women of her family carried. Why in the world is she still moaning and groaning about this in her 30's. Accept it already!

When Ophelia gets a request from Rick to help find a missing girl who is reputed to have moved to a cult-like community who investigate psychic abilities, she and Abby feel they must go to Minnesota to see what they can find.

Ophelia immediately happens upon Tink, the niece of the Finches, the psychic investigators, and feels an immediate connection with her. Tink has made friends with a local Native American shaman, despite his open bitterness against whites. After a strange encounter with a spooky shack in the woods, Ophelia finds another body, of course, this time of a local war veteran of dubious sanity.

When Tink confesses to the murder to protect her friend, Ophelia decides that she must find the basis of the paranormal mysteries in the area to clear Tink's reputation and find the missing girl, whose absence seems to take second place to the other mysteries in the small town.

I still can't decide if I like this series or not even though I've read three of them now and have the fourth to read.

This was suggested as something I might enjoy, and I really did! I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

this is one of my favorite cozy series right now! Ophelia and Abby are great pair, and Ophelia reminds me of me in the stubborness department. This book introduces Tink, whom becomes Ophelia's daughter thru adoption. Tink is living with her aunt and uncle way out in the woods, and they apparently are running a psychic cult, and it ends up that Tink's aunt is psychotic crazy.

I had some trouble getting into this one but at the end I think it was the best one yet. Abby and Darci are wonderful and fun and a new character is introduced that I think will be interesting to read about in the coming books. However, Ophelia's constant prickiliness and her bickering with Rick gets old. I'm looking forward to the next one and I hope Ophelia continues to grow up a bit!

Yes....I read another Abby and Ophelia book. Up till now I've never been impressed by these books, but this one was much better than the previous two.

In this story, Abby and Opheila are asked by Ophelia's reporter friend to snoop around and help find a missing girl. This requires them to go on 'vacation' near some lake and of course get knee deep in trouble. They stumble upon these weird cult people who want to study paranormal behavior in people, such as psychic ability. They discover the cult leader guy was trying to get with the teen girl and when the wife found out they kept her captive somewhere.

In the end they find the missing girl and acquire a little girl of their own. Little Tink was the niece of the weird cult leaders and since they're going to prison Tink goes to live with Ophelia. Tink also has psychic abilities, so we'll be seeing more of her in other books.

third book in a cute series - I enjoyed it, but wished I'd started with the first book.

Ophelia is a thirty something, single librarian who shuns her psychic abilities and denies her grandmother Abby's benevolent witchcraft. Having "seen" her best friend's death, but unable to warn him that his death was imminent and save him, she escapes the trauma and moves to her grandmother's small town. In spite of her denying her and her grandmother's uncanny abilities, Ophelia is drawn into mysterious events and deaths in her new hometown. A pleasant series.

Keep hoping for a little romance. Still love this series.

Ophelia has always considered her psychic abilities an imposition, except for those times she's been able to put her paranormal talents to good use -- like when a friend asks her to help find a missing teenager. Unfortunately it means she and Abby, her kindly, canny sorceress granny, will be taking to the road to pursue the vanished girl in the wilds of Minnesota.

The signs are pointing toward the secluded new age research facility of Jason and Juliet Finch, who live with their troubled -- and possibly matricidal -- thirteen-year-old niece. And a bizarre local murder that follows their arrival -- plus the appearance of a mysterious Native American shaman -- only emphasize the urgency of Ophelia and Abby's hunt, drawing them into a web of dark secrets and to the last place they'd ever wish to be: a cottage in the woods where true evil quite possibly resides.

Not Bad. I liked the Witch Way to Murder and Charmed to Death a little better.

The third in the series and just as good as the first two. In this story, we see Ophelia's maternal instincts kicking in as she tries to help Tink, a teenage girl with significant psychic power. By the end, you can see the set up for book 4.
