I loved this book! I like Rachel Gibson's funny and irreverent writing style, and I also felt she captured the heroine Kate's insecurities in a way that made me feel Kate's pain in dealing with men. There's just enough of that in the story to give it depth without too much angst. The hero Rob has some issues of his own - he rejects her proposition in the opening scene but when you read his story, you'll understand why. Now if they can only resolve their feelings about past loves... Well, sure they do, it's a Romance!

Dumped by her boyfriend and stressed out by her job, Kate Hamilton decides to visit her widowed grandfather in Idaho. During the drive to Idaho, she stops at a ski lodge and decides to live out one of her fantasies and proposition a gorgeous man. He flatly rejects her.
After Kate arrives at her grandfather's, she helps him at his store. He introduces her to Rob Sutter, the owner of the sporting goods store across the street and the man she propositioned. She can only pray Rob won't tell her grandfather how they met before.
This was a funny story with snappy dialogue. Rob has a good reason for never picking up women in bars. It takes him a long time to come around to the fact that he really cares for Kate but doesn't want to get into a relationship with her. Kate has other ideas. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Fun, quick read as usual.
Rob is such an idiot but you learn to adore him. I have to give Gibson credit for making a cheater into a lovable character. It probably wasn't easy. I liked that Kate is very strong and opinionated but somehow she doesn't come off as having a chip on her shoulder.
There are some problems with consistency in the book and with the series. It seems like Gibson can't decide how tall Rob was. Also Sherriff's Dylan's name is misspelled in the book but it's still a great book.

I picked up the first book in this series by chance. I read it so fast and LOVED it so much that I promptly logged on to my Paperback Swap account and proceeded to order the next 5 books in the series. I love them. This one was great because it was still about a Chinook hockey player but he isn't with the team anymore and he is living in Idaho. Interesting change, but still keeping up with what the team is doing. What a great writer, hope she adds more to this seris.
