Take an island of wealthy inhabitants - add a greedy man w/an eye to isolating the island, robbing the natives & laughing at his superiority. Spice it up with Jesse Stone of TV fame & watch the kettle blow & scream as the plot folds in upon itself, violence erupts & hell breaks loose.

Robert B Parker does it again. I've read most of the Spencer series and this is the second in the Jesse Stone series that I have read. How he manages to keep me interested, excited, sometimes chasing a red herring...I Love it! Jesse Stone is just enough of a rebel to keep you wondering who or what will irritate him next and help him solve the case.
I find the Jesse Stone series to be much better than his Spenser, but you be the judge.
Meet Jesse Stone - A great character with a great story. I just loved it.
Back cover: Robert B. Parker's ner hero,, Jesse Stone, has just settled into his positon as police chief of Pardise Massachusetts. But there's trouble in Pardidise when the wealthy enclave of Stiles Island catches the eye of thieves who come to look at a house-and end up taking the whole island.
very good follow-up to the first book.
Parker's "new" leading man, Jesse Stone, saves the day - though not a couple of his officers - again for Paradise, MA, this time against a group of homicidal bank/home/store robbers who take on a whole island. A good read.
"This book is so good, there's not enough R's in terrific." Kansas City Star
#2 in the series. Just as great as the first!
Goof read
I can never put Spencer's book about Paradise and Jesse Stone down...I really like them. One review on the back of the book says..."This book is so good, there's not enough R's in terrific." It's true.
Great Robert Parker novel...mystery. With his character Jesse Stone...PAGE TURNER!!
The 2nd Jesse Stone novel - and better than the 1st, in my opinion. I love Jesse & his outlook on things.
A good read; hard to put down. Jesse Stone's love life is pretty entertaining in this one.

Excellent installment in the Jesse Stone series.
jeese stone book
Jesse Stone will be a character you'll want to keep track of and what criminal he's after, likable characters except for Jenn his ex-wife, she is irritating.
Now one of the hottest TV movies with Tom Selleck, this is the first book with Jessie Stone - the new police chief of Paradise, Mass. Well worth the read whether you're a Spenser fan or not because this is the best new series out there - and Tom's easy on the eyes!
Parker is a classic
Another Good Jesse Stone read
