Another great installment in the series, maybe the best one yet. There's a nice tone of urgency, a la Jack Bauer: all the action here takes place within just a week or two of the start of the story in Book 1 and the plot developments of Book 2. Raine's magical/demonic foes keep multiplying but she's still staying one step ahead, albeit just by the skin of her teeth. A wonderful fantasy heroine in the Rachel Morgan mode, equal parts Buffy Summers and VI Warshawsky. She's smart - and a smartaleck - but clearly has a moral compass. (A note for fans of Tam and Mychael: while the prose stays chaste, the love triangle does get more interesting in this book.)

I really enjoyed this book, it was the best so far. There was a lot of action, romance, laughter and danger. I have become a big fan of Lisa Shearin in just one month. Raine is a great female character and Mychael and Tam are just dreamy.
I have so much going on that when I read a book I just want to escape. The Trouble with Deamons was just that kind of book. I never thought going to a place with elves, goblins, and demons would be so much fun. [close]

So I could have done without the love triangle; however, it didn't take anything from my enjoyment of this book. Raine still has the Saghred. One of the villains who we all hoped was dead isn't. The other who we all wanted to be out of commission isn't. They and multiple others want the Saghred and will go to any cost to get it.
I enjoyed Raine, but I also think the secondary characters have depth and humor and really added to my enjoyment. A favorite scene was Raine taking on the demon queen and Phaelan's reaction/enjoyment (of the view). Good fantasy series.

Book three in the Raine Benares series. This series must be read in order it will make no sense. Raine is a seeker who has been bound to a soul-seeking stone. Now there are a lot of people who see Raine as evil because of her connection to the stone. With demons after the key, she's in danger with few allies. I really like how the relationships are developed more in the book. My only complaint with this series is that I find the magic unnecessarily complex, sometimes making it difficult to follow.
