Anything by Peters is good. This one is NOT her Egyptian series. First I had read in this one, hopefully there will be more. Enjoyed it. Good characters, fast read.

When is a tall, blond and beautiful not just what one might think she is a dumb blond?
When she is Vicky Bliss that's when. She is one tough cookie and she knows her fine works of art too.
Vicky works for Herr Professor Doktor Schmidt at Munich's National Museum as an art historian. Her latest adventure in Trojan Gold is about a picture maybe worth a 1,000 words but more likely a 1,000 questions.

"At first glance it appears to be the famous portrait of Frau Schliemann adorned in the gold of Troy. But closer study reveals the picture to be contemporary--which is odd since Vicky knows the Trojan gold vanished sometime around the end of World War Two. And is she needed further proof that something is terribly amiss, a quick look at the bloodstained envelope the photos arrived in should do the trick."

I have enjoyed Ms. Peters Amelia Peabody series and believe I have read most of those stories, so when I saw the stories she wrote about Vicky Bliss I was curious and most certainly not disappointed. Her characters are so 'real' and the stories very entertaining.

I would recommend anything Elizabeth Peters writes. She tells great stories.

Longed to be in Bavaria for the Holiday's after this read. Again, Vicky Bliss entertains and thrills in a mystery that is never actually solved...or is it?

A picture is worth a thousand words in this interesting story. Art historian Vicky Bliss receives a photo with no explanation of who sent it or why. The picture looks familiar and she realizes it is copy of one showing Frau Schliemann wearing the fabulous gold her husband found in Troy, but the woman is not Frau Schliemann. Vicky knows that the gold disappeared at the end of World War II stolen from a museum by the Nazis. Soon Vicky is off to Bavaria to an old ski lodge she and five others had spend time in the previous year. Much to her surprise each of the others appear at the same time, all having recieved the same picture, all bent on finding the gold for their museums or are they. Master thief John Smythe appears and soon Vicky is fighting for her life as a determined killer stalks her. Can Vicky find the missing gold or will the killer strike first and is the killer one of her friends? The story moves along at a quick pace and is another fine addition to the series.

Babara Michaels is a wonderful writer even if she calls herself Elizabeth Peters.

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS but the photograph Vicky Bliss has just received gives rise to a thousand questons, and the answers to some of them are deadly. A quick glance at the blood-stained envelope is all the proof Vicky needs to know that something is very wrong.

The picture itself is familiar: A woman dressed in the gold of Troy. This isn't the famous photograph of Frau Schliemann, though. The picture is contemporary. The gold, as Vicky and everyone else knows, disappeared at the end of World War II.

And because they all know it, they all gather to renew the search. All of them - including the mysterious John Smythe and a very determined killer....

I loved Elizabeth Peters many years ago when these first came out. I am trying to re-collect them now so I can enjoy them again.
