Amazing, amazing, amazing book. I keep it with me and plan to re-read it over and over. Hugo offers much wisdom and encouragement. He suggests that words we are drawn to, words that have sounds we like, are the words to be used in our poems. He suggests that even seemingly unrelated lines are related simply because we wrote them! The first few chapters affirmed what I'm doing right, and the next few offerred suggestions for new ways of doing things. I can say I've written approximately 8 poems inspired by this book. Richard Hugo's approach to "teaching" writing poetry is more of a "freeing" to write poetry.
