Ryan and Regan can't believe their scientist parents made them move from San Diego to the total snoozefest of Pennsylvania practically overnight just so they can work at a boring science corporation, Proact. But when they accidentally overhear their parents talking, they realize there may be more to Proact than meets the eye, and they're determined to find out!
This is well-done middle grade scifi. At the center of the story are the sibling couple, and they are realistically portrayed without going too cheesy or too aggressive. They are just two normal siblings who bicker sometimes but love each other. The science is worked into the book quite well, and kids will definitely come away from this having learned something without quite realizing it. The ending has a twist that even I didn't see coming, so I think kids will enjoy that.
I did think that the descriptions of the characters were a bit lacking as they focused a bit too much on hair and eye color to the exclusion of other things. Additionally, the book feels a bit short for the content/grade level.
Overall I think if you have middle grade reading level kids who like science, mysteries, or scifi you should feel completely confident in handing them this book.
