I had never read Allingham, one of the top writers of the Golden Age of mysteries. I finally did, and I am glad! Excellent writing, good story telling, and an interesting protagonist in Albert Campion, who here has to puzzle through a threat to England's government at the beginning of WW2 -- while suffering from amnesia!
Albert Campion British mystery...fun.

I figured what the crime was going to be half-way through the book. And I thought it was fairly obvious who the bad guy was. If only Campion had listened to me he wouldn't have been shot. But he never listens to anyone. Well, maybe he'll listen to Amanda now. I hope so.
