I am not generally a historical fiction fan, but I like Reilly's Scarescrow series. This is nothing like the Scarecrow books! Lots of murders, sex and chess games. The characters and pacing were sufficient to keep me reading, but it was a bit silly. A quite readable guilty pleasure for lapsed historians.
