Kevin Smith gives the smackdown to all that oppose him. Y'know, kinda like that scene in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" where they print out a list of all the people who posted shitty things about the real-life Jay and Silent Bob on MoviePoopshoot.com and go door to door beating them up? Yeah, kinda like that. Except funnier, and with much less violence.

He tells the tale of his rise to fame, having to eat crow for making "bad" movies like Mallrats (one of my faves by KS, actually, since Jason Lee is hilarious), and offers advice to aspiring filmmakers.

Mostly his advice is along the lines of that ol' Nike commercial that said "Just Do It." He also revels in being indie, and explains how Wayne Gretzsky inspired his new career (going where the puck will be, not where it's been). Wait, new career? That's right: if you haven't been paying attention, Smith founded the SModcast empire and is now working mainly as a professional podcaster along with his friends and family.

A very interesting, and often very hilarious, behind-the-scenes look at many of KS's movies and influences (loved the parts about George Carlin), as well as some raw and raunchy bits about his wife's asshole (yes, for real). If you love Kevin Smith, you'll certainly dig this book. And even if you have some gripes about Kevin Smith, if you have a sense of humor, you'll love this book.

Recommended for anyone who fell in love with Clerks and the ViewAskewniverse, once upon a time, despite their mother shouting "Turn it off!"
