I saw a picture in the newspaper here of the statue with which "Touchdown Jesus" is being replaced, along Interstate 75 between Dayton and Cincinnati. The "new" Jesus still has uplifted, outstretched arms, by which the folks promoting the project mean to emphasize how welcoming the church is. The arms are not as high as those on the previous statue, which was burned to a crisp after it was hit by lightning. But the new one makes me think it looks like Jesus is saying "Gimme a hug" . . . .
