Fast read. Very enjoyable. Cleverly written. Much to think about. Love the dog aspect of the book. You feel like you are on this trip with Maxie.

Great book for dog lovers and readers who like to read about America's southwestern landscape. There was a lot of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. This series is definite worth reading.

I was pleasantly surprised A heroine 'of a certain age' What will they think of next? Nice story, plausible action. Likeable characters, especially Stretch

A bit improbable, but still likable.

First line: "On an otherwise empty west-ward tending dirt road, the small cloud of dust raised by a slow-moving thirty foot Winnebago motor home was gently carried aside by the whisper of a breeze...."
What an amazing ride book 2 took me on. I had NO idea who the killer was till the very end. Never saw it coming. I read long into the nights with this one. I loved her descriptions of New Mexico, the places she and Stretch, her dog, visited. I enjoyed all of the characters in this novel. I look forward to book 3, "The Refuge". With book 1 and 2, I have not been disappointed at all, I have become a huge fan of Sue Henry, I just wish she would have taken Maxie and Stretch on into a book 5 and 6 and so forth, I cant get enough of these quirky ole lady and her dog in an RV traveling the USA stories!

Okay, but not as enjoyable as Sue Henry's other books. Likable characters--especially the dog.
