Very pleasing collection of vampire stories, especially for an SF fan. Anne Rice fans will probably be disappointed, since the stories mostly take a scientific viewpoint on the origins/purposes of vampires.

Excellent collection of authors as well. Rather than a bunch of major names and stories I'd read before, these are mostly obscure/unknowns (at least to me), but with excellent stories. For example, "Born Again" is a wonderful and exciting piece written by S.N. Dyer. Who as far as I can tell hasn't written anything else...
