Tommy Glover's Sketch of Heaven - Thorndike Buckinghams - Large Print
Author: Jane Bailey
When Kitty Green returns to teach at the Gloucestershire school where she had been a child evacuee during World War II, she discovers it is about to be relocated to the premises of Heaven House, formerly a boys' home. Young Kitty had been very close to one of the boys, and the story that emerges of those dark times is both terrible and healing.

Incredibly sweet story of a young girl, Kitty, who is evacuated to the country from London in WWII...she is placed with a cold, uncaring couple, but is befriended by a sweet older boy who lives in the nearby orphanage. Their loving friendship is what saves her, and what gives her the clues to as to the reason her foster parents behave the way they do and how to save their marriage and make them love her. The story is told in flashback form, as the older Kitty returns to the village as a young adult to teach school.
